§ 4-17. Certain animals prohibited from entering certain City recreational lands or facilities.

  • (a)

    No person shall cause or permit a dog or other domestic animal, except service dogs and other animals participating in City or County-approved recreational events (e.g., dog shows, fairs, etc.) or engaged in law enforcement duties, to enter any land or facility owned, operated, or controlled by the City for public recreational purposes. This section shall only apply to the following listed community park: Irene B. Thomas Park. The following listed neighborhood parks and other linear parks are exempt from this section: Bradwell Park, Jack Carter Park, Lee/Fleming Road Park, Main Street Park, Singleton Memorial Park, Victory Park, and Wildwood Park.

    (b)

    Any person who violates the provisions contained herein shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and, upon conviction thereof, shall be punished by a fine of no more than $500.00.

    (c)

    The Municipal Court shall have jurisdiction over violations of this section and all procedures for enforcement of this section shall be provided in O.C.G.A. art. 1, ch. 32, tit. 36. Complaints of violations of any provisions contained herein shall be brought before the Municipal Court on a citation issued by the City Police Department, and shall be prosecuted through that court. Violations of this section will be tried upon citations with the City Solicitor, serving as the prosecuting attorney.
